placing a hold online; step-by-step
1.) Go to the onondaga county Public Library website
We ARE receiving delivery from other OCPL libraries! This means you are able to place holds on books we don't have in Elbridge, and pick them up once they are delivered to us.
2.) Find what you're looking for
Search for the material you need by clicking "search catalog" in the upper right corner.
3.) Click on 'place hold'
If this is a popular item, you will be added to the waiting list. Even if this item isn't at the Elbridge Library, it will be shipped to us within a few days and you will receive a notification when it arrives.
4.) log in to your ocpl account
Your barcode is listed on the back of your library card. Your 4-digit pin number is something you entered at the library when you first signed up for your library card. If you have forgotten this number, simply call us (315-689-7111) and we can reset it for you remotely.
5.) Click on 'submit request'
Be sure your pickup library is selected as "Elbridge Free Library"!
6.) Some titles have long waiting periods!
More popular titles often have longer than normal waiting lines. If you continue and approve your request in the OCPL queue, your item will ship to Elbridge when it is available and you will receive notification when it arrives.
7.) You will receive a confirmation
You can also explore your account to see the status of your holds, as well as the status of your account such as items out and fines.
